History

The Bald Guy aka Ashley Manek, MD broombroom.comAshley Manek (the Bald Guy) founded Broom Broom Ltd in 2000. Having traded stockmarket futures for several years, he needed a change before the stress claimed all his hair - oops, too late! From the outset he wanted to share his passion for cars with others and give them honest advice. By remaining independent of any particular manufacturer, dealer, or finance house broombroom has positioned itself as the consumers' champion, and acts as an impartial car consultant to individuals and businesses whatever their finance or car requirements.

The exceptional customer service demonstrated by the broombroom team resulted in the company becoming the first online broker ever to obtain Trading Standards Approval in 2002 to much acclaim in the Press. Since then, mostly through repeat business and recommendation, the company has won over 1100 clients who now turn to the website as their first port of call for advice. In particular they like the fact that they have one point of contact they can trust throughout their lives for all their motoring needs no matter which brand they drive, and whichever way they choose to pay for it. Many have even contributed their feedback to the site to encourage others to use "the bald guy" and his team the next time they change their car.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to pay to reserve a car?A standard £1000 part payment is required to reserve any car. For cash purchases the deposit is payable directly to the supplying UK main dealer. For cars being financed via broombroom, the deposit is payable to us. In both cases you may pay your deposit by debit or credit card. (Giving you complete payment protection from your card provider).

When is the balance payable? The supplying dealer will contact you directly when your car is ready for delivery. They will provide you with a registration number and their bank details so you can send them your insurance cover and final payment by debit card or bank transfer. If we have arranged finance we will send you the finance agreement to sign and once returned the finance company will pay the dealer.

Does broombroom charge a fee? For most transactions there is no fee payable to us at all. We do charge a £180 arrangement fee for lease deals and a £295 doc fee for fixed or variable rate finance deals which are the standard fees charged by most finance brokers. This is listed up front with every finance quote.

Is broombroom tied to any particular brand or dealer? No. We are independent of any manufacturer, retailer, or finance house. So the advice we give you is honest and unbiased.

Do you offer imports?
We will only offer you genuine UK Supplied vehicles.

I've already found my vehicle, can I still finance through you? Yes, as long as you have a good credit history we can help you finance your vehicle even if we haven't sourced it. However, we don't offer sub-prime finance so if you have ccjs or haven't been on the electoral role for 3 years we are unlikely to be able to help you with finance.

Will I have to deal with call centres? No. We genuinely love broombrooms and we love talking about broombrooms. We know this is not a great way to attract the opposite sex. But we hope it means you find working with us enjoyable.

I don't want to sell my old vehicle privately, can you help ? Yes, we can find you the best trade offer.

Can you source vans? Yes, we can now help you buy a commercial vehicle from Mercedes or VW such as a van or pick-up - just call the Bald Guy to discuss your requirements 0207 193 1737 or send us a message.

We are based at the marina in sunny Southampton (no we don't sail - well, only when others do all the work). Orders submitted via a signed copy of relevant Broom Broom Ltd documentation will constitute an intention to purchase a specific vehicle at a specific price. By signing a Broom Broom Ltd order the Client commits to paying Broom Broom Ltd the agreed sourcing fee and enters into an agreement for the Broom Broom Ltd Supplier to supply the Client with a vehicle. Broom Broom Ltd Suppliers reserve the right to issue their own order documentation to Broom Broom Ltd Clients which must be completed and returned to the Supplier before a vehicle is ordered. The contract for the supply of a vehicle will be between the Client and the Supplier. In most cases a deposit will be required by the Supplier prior to an order being processed. Vehicle deposits will be paid by the Client direct to the Supplier.

When applicable, a Broom Broom Ltd sourcing fee for a car or finance will be due at the time the Supplier confirms the order back to the Client and must be paid in full to Broom Broom Ltd. If the Client fails to pay the Broom Broom Ltd sourcing fee promptly then Broom Broom Ltd reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Client's vehicle order. In the event of a cancellation by the Client the Broom Broom Ltd sourcing fee will not be refunded. A further cancellation charge may be made by the Supplier if an order is cancelled after the vehicle order has been processed. This cancellation fee will range from £500 up to the full value of any deposit taken (whichever is the greater), at the Supplier's discretion. Broom Broom Ltd does not accept liability for a vehicle's delivery time being altered by the Supplier. The Supplier must have received payment in full and have cleared funds before a vehicle will be released for collection or delivery.

When Suppliers supply brand new, unregistered vehicles which are UK-sourced they are supplied to full UK specification with their appropriate Manufacturer's Warranty. Broom Broom Ltd may also offer Clients new cars sold on a pre-registered basis. These pre-registered vehicles will be new, UK-sourced and as such are supplied to full UK specification with their appropriate Manufacturer's Warranty. Pre-registered vehicles will usually be supplied with delivery mileage only. Clients purchasing a pre-registered vehicle will normally become the vehicle's second registered keeper on the vehicle's V5 Registration Document (Log Book)

Broom Broom Ltd is strictly governed by its relationships with Suppliers and cannot be held responsible for any change to vehicle specification or finance rates or any other variable outside of it's control so imposed by those Suppliers. Broom Broom Ltd does not commit to providing 100% accurate information regarding the full Manufacturer's standard specification for a given vehicle; although Broom Broom Ltd tries to keep information up to date any information provided on This Website should be taken as a quick indication only. As such Broom Broom Ltd Clients are advised to familiarise themselves with the features and specification of the vehicles under their consideration by consulting the vehicle manufacturers directly or by viewing their website or brochures.

Vehicle quotations will be issued based on vehicle availability (as provided by the Supplier) at the time of the quotation request and do not therefore constitute a guarantee to supply within a given time period and are therefore subject to availability. In cases where vehicles are available from dealer stock or from national stock, Broom Broom Ltd and its Suppliers are unable to guarantee the continued availability of the vehicle(s) without prior receipt of a signed order form and payment of an appropriate deposit to the Supplier. Quotes are valid for 7 days, unless indicated otherwise. Broom Broom Ltd Clients should be aware that manufacturers change the levels of discount offered in accordance with their current marketing campaigns. Broom Broom Ltd is unable to guarantee the price of a vehicle if the level of discount changes in the time between the quotation and an order being received by the Supplier.

Indicative delivery times are quoted based on information supplied by manufacturers and/or their franchised dealers. This information is subject to change on a daily basis. Vehicle supply is subject to availability. Prices are correct at time of publication, but are subject to change by the manufacturers without prior notice. Prices include VAT at 20%, unless otherwise stated. Prices are supplied on the basis of Clients collecting their vehicle(s) from the Supplier's normal trading address. If Clients require their vehicle delivered, the Supplier will quote for driven or trailer delivery based on mileage. Driven delivery will often be free to most UK locations.

This Website contains certain variable information which the Client needs to know before placing an order, such as the range and descriptions of products and their current prices. This information may also be available outside This Website, for example in printed documentation or supplied over the telephone by sales staff. Note that this variable information is known as an "invitation to treat" and not a contractual offer from Broom Broom Ltd which a Client may accept. This means Broom Broom Ltd reserves the right to correct any errors in that information without any liability to the Client. Accordingly, neither Broom Broom Ltd nor it's directors, representatives or employees, or Suppliers accept any liability whatsoever for any direct, indirect or consequential loss howsoever arising from the use of this website and the information supplied in connection therewith. By using This Website the Client further agrees to indemnify and hold Broom Broom Ltd and it's Suppliers harmless from any and all claims, expenses and liability of any kind arising out of or in connection with any use of This Website. However, no such liability is restricted or excluded insofar as such restriction or exclusion is contrary to applicable law.

Clients agree to be financially responsible for all of their use of this website (as well as for use of their account by others, including without limitation minors (under 18 years old) living with them). Clients agree to supervise all usage by minors of This Website under their name or account. Clients also warrant that all information supplied by them or members of their household in using this website is true and accurate. Without limitation, any speculative, false or fraudulent reservation or any reservation in anticipation of demand is prohibited. The Client agrees that the car reservations facilities of This Website shall be used only to make legitimate reservations or purchases for the Client or for another person for whom they are legally authorised to act. The Client understands that overuse or abuse of the reservation facilities of This Website may result in the Client being denied access to such facilities.

It is not our intention that businesses or individuals will order products from us for delivery overseas but in that eventuality the Client agrees to comply with all applicable international and national laws that apply to the products. There may be import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the Client; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. The Client hereby consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of This Website.
